PCRN PhD Studentship

Overview

A full-time graduate research studentship is available for a suitable PhD candidate with a nursing, medicine or allied health degree. The studentship is offered by the Palliative Care Research Network (PCRN) which is administered by the Centre for Palliative Care c/o St Vincent’s Hospital and Collaborative Centre of the University of Melbourne. We are seeking a PhD candidate with an interest in research focussed on the involvement of patients, family carers and the public in improving palliative care.

Eligibility

We are looking for an individual interested in full-time study. An applicant must hold current registration as a clinician in Nursing, Medicine or Allied Health Profession with an Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency, be an Australian citizen and a resident of Victoria. Further to this, applicants are required to fulfil eligibility requirements for admission into the PhD program at the University of Melbourne: https://mdhs.unimelb.edu.au/research/research-training.

Benefits

The PhD studentship is valued at $32,400 per annum and is indexed and tax exempted. This studentship is for 3 years and can potentially be extended for up to six (6) months, subject to satisfactory progress toward timely completion. The successful candidate may be able to apply for additional funds to support their research, for example: computer and professional development opportunities.

About PCRN and the PhD opportunity

The purpose of the PCRN (pcrnv.com.au) is to foster collaborative scholarly inquiry in palliative care in Australia. The PCRN receives financial support from the Department of Health and Human Services (Victoria).

The PCRN is seeking applications for a PhD proposal that is synergistic with current palliative care priorities. The research will focus on consumer involvement and explore ways to engage patients, family carers and the public in improving palliative care.

The PhD will be overseen by the PCRN and specific PhD supervisors will be appointed upon candidate selection.
