The Centre is developing future leaders in palliative care and increasing the level of expertise within the general health care system by developing a range of professional development education opportunities to suit both health care services and individual health care professionals.

Our programs are increasing the number of palliative care specialists and facilitating networking, peer support and leadership development opportunities. No matter what their current level of knowledge or area of practice may be, health care professionals can find a program to suit, from multi-disciplinary short courses to university-accredited postgraduate Specialist Certificate or Graduate Certificates in Palliative Care, delivered in collaboration with The University of Melbourne.

We provide palliative care training and mentoring programs for health professionals in general, as well as medical and nursing personnel specifically through the Victorian Palliative Medicine Training Program (VPMTP) and the Victorian Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Collaborative (VPCNPC)

Our Victorian Program of Experience in the Palliative Approach (PEPA) enables health professionals to attend workshops or undertake supervised clinical placements to further their knowledge of the sector.

Finally, our Victorian End-of-Life Care Coordinating Program (VEC) provides training and resources for health professionals involved in end-of-life care planning.
