Victorian Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Collaborative

The Victorian Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Collaborative (the Collaborative) provides individual Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Practitioner candidates with educational resources, a mentorship program and networking opportunities, as well as assisting with the development of the Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) role in Victoria. The Collaborative is funded by the Victorian Department of Health, which also offers scholarships to nurses who are completing Masters (Nurse Practitioner) programs.

Registered Nurses who have completed three years’ advanced practice in their specific area of practice can apply to become a Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC), which enables them to engage in clinical work that must include senior medical and nursing mentoring, as part of their NP Masters course of study. Successful candidates can apply to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia for endorsement as an NP on the completion of their studies and registration requirements.
