The Centre is developing future leaders in palliative care and increasing the level of expertise within the general health care system by developing a range of professional development education opportunities to suit both health care services and individual health care professionals.
Our programs are increasing the
number of palliative care specialists and facilitating networking, peer support
and leadership development opportunities. The Centre’s education strategy aims
to be responsive to all health care professionals learning needs. The model is
consistent with the Novice to Expert approach (Benner, P., 1984. From Novice to Expert. Menlo Park) (Benner, 1984)
The programs range from a multi-disciplinary
online course (Novice) through to multi-disciplinary post graduate degrees
(Expert) delivered in collaboration with The University of Melbourne.
We provide palliative care training
and mentoring programs for health professionals in general, as well as medical
and nursing personnel specifically through the Victorian Palliative Medicine
Training Program (VPMTP) and the Victorian Palliative Care Nurse
Practitioner Collaborative (VPCNPC).
The Victorian Program of Experience in the Palliative Approach (PEPA) enables
