The Centre for Palliative Care is currently recruiting community members to take part in the Qualdeath research project. We invite you to join one of our focus groups, where you will share your insights on how best to assess the quality of end-of-life care.
The aim of the Qualdeath project is to develop a clinical appraisal process for reviewing the quality of death and dying for patients with advanced cancer in acute hospital settings. Qualdeath is funded by the Western and Central Melbourne Integrated Cancer Services (WCMICS) and led by the Centre for Palliative Care (CPC).
Interested participants need to meet all of the following criteria:
- Be over 18 years of age
- Speak English
- Have an experience of caring for an adult who died an expected death from cancer at one of the participating hospitals (St Vincent’s, Peter Mac, RMH, Sunshine Hospital or Werribee Mercy)
- The death occurred between 3 months and 5 years prior to this study
If eligible, you will be asked to take part in a focus group with other community representatives. You will be asked about when and how family/friends should be engaged in the process of assessing quality of dying. The focus group will last no more than one hour.
